Hilleberg Backpacking & Lightweight Tents-Akto Tent – Sand

The Hilleberg Akto offers near-luxury, all-season shelter for the solo traveller, and it is only slightly heaver than a bivvy bag. It’s an ideal choice any time you need the lightest weight, all-season solo tent. While it was not originally designed for extreme use, it has proven itself on extended polar expeditions, and so will stand up well to all conditions. Long distance backpackers will especially appreciate having a sturdy, comfortable room of their own at the end of a long day on the trail. Plus hikers, climbers, bicycle tourers and sea kayakers alike embrace its lightweight roominess and a pack size that’s small enough to fit into a side pocket.

Part of Hilleberg’s Red Label range, these tents are designed for both short and longer trips in generally less demanding conditions in all seasons.

The single pole construction offers excellent space to weight ratio, and sturdy fibreglass rods in the corners of the outer tent provide extra height and more usable space. These also make it the ideal tent for tall users who struggle to find a solo tent that has enough room. Basic pitching requires only four pegs in the head and foot end guy lines, and the simple, single-opening, continuous pole sleeve and tensioner system is quick to pitch and remarkably stable. It is recommended to peg out the four corners as it provides optimal floor space, venting, and overall tent function.

The single entrance/ single vestibule configuration affords easy access as well as storage space. The high bathtub floor keeps out groundwater, and looped guy lines affixed to twin attachments on each side of the pole increase stability in poor conditions. Zipper adjustable vents in head and foot ends of the outer tent provide good air flow, and are protected from rain by the angled design of the end itself. Partial no-see-um mesh on the inner tent door is covered by an adjustable, fabric panel for all season comfort and an integrated stowage pocket helps to keep you organised.

Optional Additions – Available Separately
For added protection, an additional tough Footprint can be purchased to help protect the tent’s floor from abrasion and to keep ground moisture from rising in the vestibule. For when you want to pitch this tent’s inner by itself in warmer climates. You can purchase an additional Pole Holder Set, which include pole holders that are designed to attached to the corners of the inner, allowing you to pitch this tent without the flysheet.
